St. Nicolas’ Church, named after the patron saint of merchants, is the
city’s oldest church. With its light interior, striking octagonal tower and
19th century organ designed specifically for the playing of Bach’s music,
the church is a favourite of visitors and locals alike. It is no coincidence
that it became the site of the peaceful protest of 1989 which led to the
ultimate reunification of Germany. Here, you will be able to listen to a
recital on the church’s famous organ.
